Hello, Im Jody. Ive been in the Hospitality industry for over 15 years.I qualified as a chef at the Southdowns College. I was born in England and emigrated to Australia in 2006

Interviewer : Hi Jody, nice to see you.

Jody : You are aware you are looking in the mirror?

 

Interviewer : Good Point! So tell all the people out there about your new venture.

Jody : Well, as you all know my name is Jody and I do talk to myself. Food Cost Solutions is a new and small company designed to help chefs, managers and owners of a whole range of hospitality outlets.

 

Interviewer : Sounds interesting? What kind of services do you offer?

Jody : Im glad you asked that. Food cost solutions offer a wide range of services. Accurate costings of dishes, standardised recipe specification sheets, compose order sheets, compose mise en place lists, supplier tendering and contracting, cost comparison, mystery dining, services schedules, stock take and recording, staff recruitment advice etc, food safety record sheets (nsw) etc

 

Interviewer : So what gave you the idea to start this business?

Jody : Well, ive been in the industry for 15 years plus now. Something that ive noticed is that there is more paperwork than ever! With food costs rising, wages and oncosts theres little or no time to look at all the "other little things" that can blow out profit margins. My company can look into areas of concern within your business and make recommendations for change.

 

Interviewer : So how do you do this? What signs can you look out for?

Jody : Use your gut feeling. If you can see staff issues, food issues, beverage problems, loss in trade, increasing costs and smaller profit margins then theres a problem. Your accountant can give you your breakdown in sales, costs and expentiture, we can use that information and our own custom made soft ware (all on excel) to find the problem and offer solutions. How do we do it? We OBSERVE. The first stage is to watch what happens in your business currently. Then we present our findings to you and own plan of solutions.
